Our endearing, eccentric, enraging Zyra left us prematurely March 29, 2024 by her own hand. As much as her community still loves her, it is proportionately angry with her for taking her love away and devastating our lives.
Zy was welcomed into the Ferrell clan September 21, 2002 by parents Kathryn and Captain Stanford Ferrell, and big sister Loer of Fort Huachuca. Almost two years later, the family moved to Sierra Vista and she reluctantly allowed little brother, Daelan, to join the family.
Zy attended Sierra Vista Public Schools, where she struggled with her education, even after her ADHD and Asperger's diagnosis. But, with support from her family, friends and a few committed teachers, she was scheduled to graduate from Buena High School...until the pandemic. She then completed her education online.
It was during the pandemic that Zy found her future vocation of food-prep at the Olive Garden. She was employed there at the time of her death.
Away from the restaurant, Zy enjoyed graphic design, drawing, gaming, hiking and pursuing the family hobby of firearm collection. She was a regular at Ramsey Canyon and the Sierra Vista Firing Range.
Zy was a quirky and quiet character with numerous friends both inside and outside the Olive Garden, as well as an entire family who love and miss her. Of course, no one in her life understands why she resorted to such drastic measures; we are simply grieving the loss of a dynamic source of love from our lives.
There will be no funeral service for Zy due to the shock of her abrupt demise. Her friends are planning a Celebration of Life to be held at a later date .
