Jacqueline (Jackie) Bartell Fisher Christian
After a full and satisfying life, Jackie passed away on March, 2, 2024 in her home in Sierra Vista, AZ. She was born in Douglas, AZ. on Dec. 2, 1937 and was raised on various ranches in Cochise County. She was descendent from pioneer stock as her Grandparents and great Grandparents homesteaded in the Arizona Territory in the 1800s and early 1900s.
She graduated from Douglas High School and spent time in the United States Navy at Bethesda Naval Hospital where she was proud to be on the first open-heart surgery team for the Navy. She married Alex Christian and had two sons. She lived on various naval bases on the east coast for several years before returning to Douglas, AZ. She attended Cochise College and the University of Arizona earning degrees at both. After moving to Sierra Vista, she taught at both Bella Vista and Carmichael schools until retirement.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Nellie Ratliff Fisher and stepfather John Fisher of Douglas, AZ. Her father, Norman Bartell and stepmother Grace Bartell of Douglas, AZ. Her brother, James E. Fisher of Germany and son, James Christian of Sierra Vista, AZ.
She is survived by two half-brothers, Chester and Edwin Bartell of Douglas, AZ. One son, Sandor Christian of Las Vegas, NV and four grandchildren, Jennifer, Brandi, Tanya and Alex Christian.
She loved nursing, teaching, the mountains, the ocean, children and animals. Traveling and reading were her passions along with camping in her beloved Chiricahua Mountains or cruising Alaska. She adored her cats who would talk to her. Her life was busy and full of love.
